I Corinthians 6:18
“Flee sexual immorality…”
To ‘flee’ is to run away from.
It has multiple steps for me:
– I am in the vicinity.
– I recognize the danger.
– I turn away from danger.
– Then I flee or run away.
It certainly helps not to put myself in the wrong place at the wrong time, but life has dangers and I still need to be prayed up and ready to quickly turn and run.
“She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.”
Joseph was just doing his job but he recognized that his work environment was dangerous and brought significant temptation. When the moment came,
– he recognized the danger
– he quickly turned away
– he then immediately ran away, even leaving his cloak in her hand.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the model of Joseph. Please give me grace today to recognize any potential for sexual immorality, to immediately turn from this danger and to then quickly flee from it. In Jesus Name, Amen.
