‘The Potter and Pot – Upside Down’

Isaiah 29:16

“You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter, “You know nothing”?”

Since the beginning of time, people often speak to and about God as they would a peer or as an option that is available for their consideration. There are few who truly revere and respect God as the Almighty Creator.

This classic Potter – Pot illustration continues to be relevant today. Who exactly is Isaiah referencing in this passage?

Isaiah 29:13

“The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is based on merely human rules they’ve been taught.”

‭‭They worship.

They say the right things.

But their heart is far from God. Ouch!

I need to be careful not to just be going to church and my small group and going through the motions but to daily surrender to Almighty God as my Creator.

Question:  How would I even know if I am going through the motions?
