‘Multiplication’

In the present church culture of addition, we must be very intentional to multiply and reproduce.  Paul was very intentional.

II Timothy 2:2

“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

‭‭How many generations of believers do you see in this verse??

Paul was a spiritual father to Timothy, his spiritual son.

I Timothy 1:2

“To Timothy, my true son in the faith. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”

‭‭Here is one generation passing the faith to the next

Timothy is charged to ‘entrust’ what he has learned from his spiritual father to faithful men. The key word is entrust. To entrust – is to commit to another with confidence.

Faithful Men. Timothy was to be ‘selective in his discipleship. He was to look for men who were faithful. These men were true to their word and steady in their allegiance to Christ.  It was the task of Timothy was to entrust to this type of man who would then be able ‘to teach others’.

Others. These are the men being impacted for Christ by the ‘faithful men’.

So it is four generations – multiplication, not addition.

   1. Paul

   2. Timothy

   3. Faithful men

   4. Others that they teach

QUESTION: Are you a faithful man? Are you entrusting into a faithful man?
