Proverbs 7

Proverbs 7:21

“With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, with her flattering lips she seduced him.”

Similar to Proverbs 5:3, it is the flattering words of the woman that seduces the young man – who is:

– naive (7:7)

– in the wrong place (7:8)

– at the wrong time (7:9)

But who is this woman?

Proverbs 7:14

“I’ve made peace offerings; today I’ve fulfilled my vows.”

There is clearly a form of religion here. She has been to the temple that very day and has made a sacrifice.

It’s like someone who attends church services.

This particular woman is very needy. She is married but she is clearly lonely:

Proverbs 7:19

“For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey;”

It’s common sense for a man like me to have his guard up when he’s around women who do not know God and do not attend church.

It would also be wise for me to keep a similar guard up when I am around women ‭‭who attend church.

Prayer.

Heavenly Father, give me grace to enjoy and bless my sisters in Christ but to also keep my guard up and to be cautious. In Jesus Name, Amen.
