Proverbs 16:9
“The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
So it is right and appropriate to prayerfully make a plan – but how exactly does the Lord then direct my steps?
1. God’s Word
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
God’s Word is a lamp that clarifies for me where I am standing right now. God’s Word is also a light that gives me direction for my path as I take steps of faith.
2. God’s Spirit
Isaiah 30:21
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
God’s Spirit will lead me and guide me as I hold my plans with an open hand and prayerfully listen to Him and take steps of faith that are directed by His Word.
3. Trust and Submit
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
My responsibility as I listen is to trust and submit. God is Faithful to lead and guide and make my paths clear and straight, but I must trust Him and submit to Him as He directs my steps.
Prayer.
Thank You Father for Your Word and for Your Spirit. Please give me faith to trust You and to submit to You as You direct my steps.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
