Day Twenty-One

Proverbs 21:9

“Better to live on a corner of the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome wife.”

Proverbs 21:19

“Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife.”

Other translations use descriptive words like

– complaining

– fretful

– angry

– hot tempered

– vexing

– contemptuous

So what does the man on the corner of his own roof and the man far away in the desert have in common?  He is away from his wife.

What might the roof look like in current times?

– men who are ‘home’ but go and shut the door and watch sports, play games, work on their computer.

What might the desert look like in current times?

– men who are away on business trips, on hunting trips, playing hours of golf.

For single men, heed the clear warning of Solomon and make the conscious decision to value what God values in women.

For married men, resist the temptation to withdraw, to disengage and to become increasingly passive.

Prayer.

Heavenly Father, thank You for a godly wife who loved You and surrendered her life to following Jesus. Amen
