‘A Confident Approach’

I John 5:13-15

“I write these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

I can ‘confidently approach’ God in prayer. This confidence is not because I had a good day and read my Bible and stayed out of trouble – but because I believe in Jesus and I have new life in Him. God the Father consequently hears and acts on my requests!

Hebrews 4:14,16

“Since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God….. let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

My ‘confident approach’ is a result of the finished work of Jesus, my great high priest.  He makes it possible for me to bring my requests for myself and for my family and my friends directly to Almighty God. Wow!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for my pathetic prayer life. Remind me today and tomorrow and each day of the cost that has been paid so that I may ‘confidently approach’ You in my ongoing time of need. In Jesus Name I pray, AMEN!
