John 15:7
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
Since abide is an unusual word to understand, my tendency is to run hard with ‘whatever you wish’.
*But abiding in Christ will shape whatever I wish.
This chapter illustrates what abide looks like and feels like as Jesus is the vine and as the branch, I receive my power and my life from the vine. Without the vine, the branch will slowly stop bearing fruit and will become lifeless.
Jesus’ words continually abiding in me shape me into a man where:
– His agenda is my agenda
– what He thinks about is what I think about
– what burdens Him is what burdens me
– what He wishes for is what I wish for as well.
‘Whatever I Wish’ radically changes as I abide in Jesus and His words in me.
Prayer: Father, please shape my wishes as you shape me as a man. Give me grace today to stay in fellowship with You and bear fruit that lasts by abiding in Jesus.
In His Name I pray. Amen.
