Genesis 2:19-20 “Now the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.”
Now Adam was not ‘completely alone’ for there were fish and birds and animals of every type all around him. God arranged that Adam have ‘personal time’ with each one of them and give every one of them a name. Then God concluded, and likely Adam as well, that there was still no helper ‘just right for him’.
Other Bible translations state:
– no suitable helper
– no helper fit for him
– no helper was found as his complement
An All Knowing God certainly was aware that none of these creatures were a suitable helper but it was important that Adam came to that understanding as well through his own personal experience. This is Father God in action – patiently investing time and energy to help his child learn through discovery.
Praise and Prayer.
Thank You Father that You are patient and kind as you teach me and help me to grow in my understanding and develop convictions that will order my priorities. In Jesus Name, Amen.
