Proverbs 7:1-3
“My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”
In this case, the godly counsel comes from dad. But that’s not the key point here. What do I do with it? Do I ‘treasure’ the godly counsel of others?
The term ‘store up’ can also be translated ‘to treasure’. It means to cherish or keep as precious.
One way to measure if I truly treasure godly counsel is do I regularly seek it out? Do I ask others for this?
Proverbs 12:15
“A fool’s way is right in his own eyes, but whoever listens to counsel is wise.”
Since godly counsel is rarely unsolicited, it would be ‘wise’ for me to ask.
Question: Do you regularly seek out godly counsel?
Thanks, Brian. This is one of the great benefits of our men’s group. We brothers trust each other and do seek advice backed by scripture.
