‘Avoiding Adultery I’

Proverbs 7:6-9

“At the window of my house I looked down… and  saw among the simple, among the young men, one who lacked judgment. He was wandering down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night was setting in.”

Solomon sees a number of men – young and simple. Life is just beginning for these young men.

He sees one young man separating himself from the pack, quickly concluding that he lacks judgment.

Then he gives the details of his ‘lack of judgment’….

– wrong place, wrong time.

Wrong Place’ – separated from the pack, he was now headed to the area of town where he should have been aware that a certain woman prowled around.

‘Wrong Time’ – maybe this area of town is safe at noon but now it is getting dark, and the character of the neighborhood is changing.

‘Where and When’ matter if I am to ‘avoid adultery’. This young man has not sinned but he’s playing with fire:

Proverbs 6:27

“Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?”

Prayer.

Dear God, please protect my where and my when. Thank You for your Word and for godly men who remind me not to play with fire. In Jesus Name, Amen.
