Samson’s mom was given directives on what Samson was to not eat or to not drink. Samson’s dad then pleaded with God for help:
Judges 13:8
“Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”
*God heard his prayer and said yes. The man of God visited them again and:
Judges 13:12
“Then Manoah asked, “When your words come true, what will be the boy’s responsibilities and his mission?”
There is no record of any real answer to his question, though the man sent from God did again instruct the wife on what not to eat and what not to drink. This was to be their only focus for now. Something special was happening and for Samson’s parents, it would be a faith adventure. They knew he was to be a ‘Nazarite’ but that is all they knew.
Unlike in Numbers 6, God chose to set apart Samson from before he was even born. Reminds me of Psalm 139:16
“Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.”
Prayer: Thank You, Father, that You have all my days written in your book. I trust your plan for my life. Give me grace today to follow your plan. In Jesus Name, Amen
