Proverbs 6:27-28
“Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes not be burned? Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?”
These verses may sound silly unless taken in the context of ‘playing with fire’. Solomon is warning his own sons about inappropriate encounters with women and compares it to ‘playing with fire’ – doing something very dangerous that risks causing oneself harm, damage, and misfortune.
The Apostle Paul addresses ‘playing with fire’ in very clear understandable terms.
2 Timothy 2:22 “Flee youthful lusts”
I Corinthians 6:18 “Flee sexual immorality”
Just to be clear, to flee is:- to run away from a place or situation of danger. So the question is: “Flee’ or ‘Play with Fire’?
I do not want to wait to make this decision. I will make the decision ahead of time, right now, to flee when confronted with fire. Then I will execute the decision I have already made.
