‘Samson’

Judges 14:1-2  “Samson went down to Timnah, where a Philistine girl caught his eye. When he got home, he told his father and mother, “A Philistine girl in Timnah has caught my eye. Now get her for me as my wife.””

Samson is a young, immature man and he is:

1. Impulsive – he sees something (caught his eye) and he immediately wants it.

2. Driven by Attraction – he sees this girl ‘from a distance’. This is purely and only physical attraction. Her character, her heart for God and her personality are not what ‘attracted’ him.

3. Lustful – he wants to ‘marry her’ because of the lust of his eyes. He doesn’t want a life long covenant marriage; he wants 20 minutes of self gratifying sex.

Samson knows his parents technically must be involved and in this he is correct. Young men like amazon desperately need the wise counsel and affirmation of their parents.

  1. Samson had a mission to accomplish as a Judge of God he accomplish his mission at a very high price to himself. he wanted to destroy the Philistines not for God but for his vengeance for taking his eyes. He fulfills The LORD’s Will through his own selfishness and revenge. Don’t be a Sampson.
