I Corinthians 13:11 says “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put aside childish things.”

Paul reflects on times that he ‘spoke like a child’. What is he talking about?  

Certainly, Ephesians 5:4 would qualify as one example: ‭‭ “Let there be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse [obscene or vulgar] joking” (AMP). 

But in general, one thing that ‘maturity’ should bring is the wisdom to keep my mouth shut.  Not everything that comes to my mind needs to come out of my mouth. That is just true. 

Proverbs 21:23 (MSG) states it clearly: “Watch your words and hold your tongue; you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.”

How am I doing in restraining my tongue?
