Paul wrote a long letter to the Corinthians. They had issues. I Corinthians has 16 chapters, 437 verses and nearly 10,000 words. Near the end of the last chapter, Paul writes these words:
“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” Acts 16:13-14
You might remember Paul’s classic instruction to Pastor Timothy to “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
II Timothy 4:2
But men also need exhortation. These two verses near the end of the letter to the Corinthians are a powerful twenty one word exhortation.
To exhort means – ‘to urge someone to do something’.
No more teaching and no more preaching.
No more correcting and no more rebuking.
Men know what they are supposed to do. .
You and I know what we are supposed to do – so let’s go do it.
I think we need more of this strong exhortation in 2022
Prayer.
Heavenly Father, help us today to rise up and be men who will do what we are supposed to do. In Jesus Name, Amen
