Ephesians 6:11

Ephesians 6:11

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the ‘schemes’ of the devil.”

What exactly is a scheme?

– a plan or program of action, especially a crafty or secret one.

The devil is a schemer. Remember that he is prowling around in secret (I Peter 5:8) One translation of Ephesians 6:11 uses the term ‘evil tricks’ instead of schemes. This enemy is convinced that the end justifies the means and he will do whatever it takes to win the day.

I must remember that his goal is to destroy and devour. Crafty means being clever at achieving one’s aims by using deceitful methods. Peter’s charge to each one of us is to be sober and to be alert. My guard must be up and I need to daily put on the whole armor of God.

Question: Are you daily investing time alone with God in His Word?

Action Point: I should expect the unexpected. This enemy is evil as well as clever. He is tricky and I likely will not see a direct attack coming.
