Genesis 3:1

So far I know that my enemy is…

– on the prowl

– looking to devour

– scheming

– crafty

More on crafty….

Genesis 3:1

“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?

Crafty here is causing Eve to doubt exactly what God had said. When Eve did her best to quote what God had said to Adam….

Genesis 2:17

“but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

‭‭At this point, the enemy increases the pressure, moving from causing her to question what God has said to calling Him out as a liar.

Genesis 3:4

“You will certainly not die, the serpent said to the woman.”

The enemy does not come right out and directly challenge Eve (or any of us) to believe him vs believing God and that is why he is crafty (clever, deceitful).

But still, that is what he is doing here – Don’t believe God! He cannot be trusted! He also mixes in some personal temptation to his outright lie and slander….

Genesis 3:5

“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Question:  Have you had any experience with ‘crafty’ people?

Action Point:  Again, I must be sober and ‘on the alert’ for the indirect and crafty attacks on God, on His Word and on His Character.
