The First Christmas – Gabriel II

A little over 500 years later, Gabriel is back, and with a more familiar message.

Luke 1:13-15

“The angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.”

‘Timing’. All indications are that this couple is well past the ‘child bearing years’. Elizabeth is called barren. Even Zechariah questions the Angel Gabriel because of their old age.

  • Had they given up?
  • Had they moved on?
  • Had they stopped believing?
  • Had they stopped praying?

The answers are likely yes.

But Almighty God has now chosen to answer their earlier prayers with a YES, but the ‘timing’ was not what they expected. Makes me wonder today, is there an area in my life,

  • That I have stopped praying?
  • That I have stopped believing?
  • That I have moved on?
  • That I have given up?

Might it be that God has a timing that’s different from my plan?

Question: What have I stopped believing God for and have become passive and no longer talk to Him about?
