‘An un-American Family’

Acts 2:44-45

“Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need.”

Looks like a family, feels like a family, acts like a family as they gladly shared…

II Corinthians 8:4

“For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their own ability as they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of ‘sharing’ with the Lord’s people.”

The Apostle Paul was asking ‘the family’ to help the brothers and sisters in Jerusalem who were in need – and some in ‘the family’ were eager to share.

This ‘new church’ seems to act almost un-American. Looks a little like socialism – but Paul makes it clear…

II Corinthians 8:14

“At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality.”

Again, looks like a family, feels like a family, acts like a family as they gladly shared *not with everyone* – but with ‘their family’.

Prayer.

Father, open my eyes and allow me to see my family as You see it and give me conviction and courage to share aggressively and generously. In Jesus Name, Amen!
