Genesis 39:1-3

“Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, had bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.”

Joseph’s brothers sold him to the Ishmaelites, who sold him to Potiphar, an Egyptian officer.  He was a commodity, a slave; sold to the highest bidder. But ‘the Lord was with Joseph’. In fact, Potiphar ‘saw that the Lord was with him’. 

Question? What might that look like to an employer?

Answer. (v 2) Joseph became a ‘successful man’. (v 3) Joseph was successful in everything that he did (NCV)

The slave became a success because – ‘the Lord was with him’; it was the Lord that ‘caused his success’.  When the Lord is with you, at some point it should be noticeable.
