Joshua 6:1  “Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one came in.”

Jericho was in lockdown mode because the God of Israel had a reputation. 

Looking back to Joshua 2:10 “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.”

There was no internet, television, social media, etc. There was simply word of mouth. And the result of that was…

Joshua 6:11  “When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.”
