Genesis 39:22
“The warden put all the prisoners who were in the prison under Joseph’s authority, and he was responsible for everything that was done there.”
It was the Lord who “granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden”. (v 21) This ‘favor’ once again led to increased responsibility. Joseph the prisoner was now in charge of all the prisoners! This increased responsibility can be looked at as ‘success’. This was the case with Joseph.
Genesis 39:23
“The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. The NASB translates this verse as “and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper.”
I don’t know if Joseph meditated on the Scriptures day and night in order to obey them but his life sounds like what God spoke to Joshua…
Joshua 1:8
“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”
