‘From the Dungeon to the Palace’

Genesis 41:33,34

“Now therefore let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh proceed to appoint overseers over the land and take one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plentiful years.”

Without missing a beat, Joseph moves from the problem to the plan. God was faithful to do more than just have him interpret the dreams of Pharaoh – he also gave Joseph ‘the plan’.  Discerning problems without discerning plans is half the job. Joseph showed true leadership by outlining a detailed plan of action.

The man who was a prisoner in the dungeon a few hours before this did not look to elevate himself. He simply spoke what God had given to him with clarity and boldness. A reminder that it is God who elevates a man.

Psalm 75:6,7

“For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up; but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one man and lifting up another.”

Genesis 41:41

“So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.””

From the dungeon to the palace; Romans again 8:28 rings true… “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.”
