Joshua 6:3  “You shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days.”

The people of Jericho were not interested in war. They stockpiled food and water and their city was fully fortified. Israel would need a unique battle plan. And here is the plan straight from God; “March around the city…”

How does Joshua even share this plan with his fighting men? These ‘men of war’ would include “every male from twenty years old and upward, whoever is able to go out to war” (Numbers 1:3). 

No children, no youth, no women and no men who were not in fighting shape would be walking around the city of Jericho. It is clear that God and His People were not woke. The ‘men of war’ were ready but this unique plan emphasized ‘faith over force’. This battle would truly belong to the Lord. 

That was true then; it was true for David (I Samuel 17:47); it was true for Jehoshaphat (II Chronicles 20:15); and it has always been true for men of God. Yes, even in 2026, the battle belongs to the Lord.
